When Anger Feels Like It's Running the Show
You may not want to lash out, shut down, or snap but sometimes, it feels like anger takes the wheel before you can stop it. Maybe you’re constantly on edge, or people around you are walking on eggshells. Afterwards comes the guilt, shame, or loneliness. Anger isn’t the full story, it’s often covering hurt, fear, or stress. But when it keeps damaging your relationships or your peace, it becomes exhausting to carry alone.
Does this sound familiar?
- Losing your temper over small or unexpected frustrations
- Feeling out of control during emotional outbursts
- Saying or doing things you later regret
- Using anger to hide deeper pain, fear, or sadness
- Feeling ashamed or guilty about how you express anger
- Struggling to communicate calmly under stress or pressure

Frequently Asked Questions
Does your team specialize in other treatment areas?
Yes our team does specialize in various treatment areas! Explore our Therapy Services here.
What is the cost of therapy and is it covered by insurance?
We offer in-person and online counselling services for individuals and relationships. See our rates here.
Many benefit programs cover the cost of Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs). Please check with your benefits provider to see if this is available to you.
We offer direct billing options to certain insurance companies. If direct billing is not an available option, we provide a detailed receipt following each session. Follow your insurers instructions for submitting the receipt through your extended health benefits plan (often this can be done online).
We invite you to contact us with any questions to explore these options.
What is the rescheduling and cancellation policy?
We kindly require 48-hours notice for cancellation or rescheduling to ensure fairness to you, your counsellor, and other clients. Our cancellation fee is the full cost of the counselling session.
Where is As You Are Counselling located?
Our clinic is located in Langley, next to the 200 Street highway exit. We are easily accessible from Surrey, Maple Ridge, Abbotsford and other surrounding cities.
We also offer the convenience of online counselling for those who cannot make it in-person.
Learn more on our Contact page.
How many sessions does it take before I start to feel better?
This really depends on the issue at hand and the context in which you are experiencing the problem. At the first session, you and your counsellor will discuss the optimal frequency and likely duration of counselling. With more complex and long standing issues, you will likely need more sessions to untangle things and build up internal stability.
Therapy is a process. That said, most of our clients experience some relief early on in the therapy process, and indicate that they are experiencing positive shifts in their lives after 4-6 sessions.
