Meet Our Counsellors Who Offer Relationship Counselling

Frequently Asked Questions

What if we don’t have any serious problems in our relationship?

A common myth about relationship counselling is it’s only for couples who have problems in their relationship(s). However, counselling can be a useful tool for those who want to strengthen your relationship(s), deepen your emotional connections, learn effective conflict resolution skills, and enhance your communication skills. Many couples seek counselling as a preventative measure to address minor issues before it’s escalate into major problems. Even if you don’t have any significant issues, counselling can provide you with a safe and supportive environment to explore your individual and collective goals, values, and aspirations.

What if my partner(s) do not want to go to counselling?

You can go to individual counselling by yourself. It may be more challenging to patch up relationships when only one partner is willing to go to counselling, but you can still benefit by learning more about your communication, reactions, and behaviour in the relationship.

Is relationship counselling only for romantic relationships?

No ~ while it is commonly associated with couples in romantic relationships, the principles and techniques can be applied to a variety of relationships.

This includes familial relationships, such as between parents and children, siblings, or extended family members. It can also be beneficial in friendships, helping to navigate conflicts, set boundaries, and deepen connection. Relationship counselling is even useful in professional settings, such as between coworkers, or between a manager and their team.

In essence, any relationship that involves ongoing interaction and emotional investment can potentially benefit from relationship counselling. It aims to improve the health and satisfaction of relationships, regardless of the specific nature of those relationships.

Does my insurance cover relationship counselling?

Many benefit programs cover the fee of registered clinical counsellors (BC). Please check with your benefits provider to see if this is available to you. The counsellor’s license number and credentials are provided after the session on an invoice.

How do I learn more about the Registered Clinical Counsellors at As You Are Counselling?

What is the rescheduling and cancellation policy?

We kindly require 48-hours notice for cancellation or rescheduling to ensure fairness to you, your counsellor, and other clients. Our cancellation charge is half of the cost of the counselling session.

If the appointment is outside of the 48-hour cancellation window you can cancel or change the appointment through your Jane account (created when appointment was originally booked) or simply call or email us to reschedule.
