When Anxiety Shapes Your Life More Than You Do
Your mind won’t slow down; racing with what-ifs, self-doubt, and a sense that something might go wrong. Even when life looks fine, your body feels tense, your thoughts spiral, and rest feels impossible. Anxiety can shrink your world, making everyday decisions feel overwhelming and isolating. You may look calm on the outside but feel like you’re barely holding it together inside. It’s exhausting to live this way, like you’re always bracing for impact.
Anxiety Can Look Like:
- Racing thoughts that make it hard to slow down
- Constantly overthinking or worrying about what others think
- Difficulty falling or staying asleep
- Feeling overwhelmed by everyday decisions or responsibilities
- Avoiding situations because of fear or discomfort
- Feeling disconnected from yourself or others

How Anxiety Therapy Can Support You
We’ll support you in finding relief from the overwhelm that anxiety can bring. Our approach is grounded in compassion and tailored to your unique needs. Depending on your therapist, we may draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Therapy, or Strengths-Based methods. Together, we’ll work to break free from anxious cycles and help you move forward with greater calm and clarity in your daily life.
As you continue your therapy journey, you may notice:
- Feeling calmer and more in control
- Handling stress with greater confidence and ease
- Recognizing anxiety triggers before they take over
- More effective communication and healthier boundaries

Frequently Asked Questions
Does your team specialize in other treatment areas?
Yes our team does specialize in various treatment areas! Explore our Therapy Services here.
What is the cost of therapy and is it covered by insurance?
We offer in-person and online counselling services for individuals and relationships. See our rates here.
Many benefit programs cover the cost of Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs). Please check with your benefits provider to see if this is available to you.
We offer direct billing options to certain insurance companies. If direct billing is not an available option, we provide a detailed receipt following each session. Follow your insurers instructions for submitting the receipt through your extended health benefits plan (often this can be done online).
We invite you to contact us with any questions to explore these options.
What is the rescheduling and cancellation policy?
We kindly require 48-hours notice for cancellation or rescheduling to ensure fairness to you, your counsellor, and other clients. Our cancellation fee is the full cost of the counselling session.
Where is As You Are Counselling located?
Our clinic is located in Langley, next to the 200 Street highway exit. We are easily accessible from Surrey, Maple Ridge, Abbotsford and other surrounding cities.
We also offer the convenience of online counselling for those who cannot make it in-person.
Learn more on our Contact page.
How many sessions does it take before I start to feel better?
This really depends on the issue at hand and the context in which you are experiencing the problem. At the first session, you and your counsellor will discuss the optimal frequency and likely duration of counselling. With more complex and long standing issues, you will likely need more sessions to untangle things and build up internal stability.
Therapy is a process. That said, most of our clients experience some relief early on in the therapy process, and indicate that they are experiencing positive shifts in their lives after 4-6 sessions.
